With the recent release of the latest from the Tom Clancy franchise, we were introduced to a new game called Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Breakpoint. This game is now available for PC, PS4 and Xbox One since 4th of October. We also get our hands dirty and tried the game out!
Take note that we did not finish the entire game.
Gameplay
At the start of the game, you will start alone after crashing into the ground suffering attacks from the enemies. Then you will be playing as one of the lieutenant for a Ghost squad. Your character will be under the name Anthony “Nomad” Perryman. You are the only survivor within the entire helicopter that you were in.
After that you start to venture into an open world where you can salvage and earn experience by killing people or clearing objectives.
Experience in this game is contributing for the completion of a level. After each level, you will gain a skill point which you can venture into different skill tree for different playstyle. You can be a sneaky person and snipe people from a distance. You can build you character to be an assault character where you hit on them face to face. Or you can be an all rounder as well!
There are also a wide range of weapons you can utilize. You can even pick up the gun that your enemies drop. Other than the main run and gun scenario, you can also utilize your surrounding to create distractions or to kill them with stuff like gas can or drive them over with a car.
The main gameplay in single player mode are just a simple quest completion game. Accept, execute and get your reward. There are a lot of elements within the game to take cover like utilizing the mud when you are prone on the ground. The open world features boxes that you can locate in secret areas that will be waiting you to discover!
Co-op Mode
The co-op mode in this game allows you to play with your friends via online connectivity. This helps you to complete your mission easier and also travel with a buddy around the open world to create a small little chaos everywhere you go.
PvP Mode
In PvP mode, there is a 4 v 4 elimination, and custom lobby where you can set your own rules. 4 v 4 elimination surrounds tactical decisions that you need to communicate with your squad with. It is very important that you hold your positions and push towards your enemies together as a team as well. Sometimes when a tactic don’t work, switch it up and try other stuff. In PvP elimination mode, players dont die immediately after being down. There will be a bleeding gauge that will identify how long you will remain alive in seconds. Within this period, your teammates can bring you back up and continue to fight.
As a whole, the game felt pretty solid in terms of a multiplayer game. For solo player, the game might feel a bit dull at start. The AI for enemies were not too reactive towards my reaction. The sentences and provoking for the enemies are still decent. Graphics are as expected, amazingly done by the team. The audios could be improved but it can find soothing for some players. The voice over are well suit for each character.
As a result, I would give the game a chance to push through more boundaries as the game is still young, and just maybe the DLC will make the game more interesting for single player mode.
