Popular manga and currently airing anime series Tokyo Revengers just had a new trailer for its live action film adaptation. Warner Bros. Japan’s uploaded the trailer on the YouTube channel. You can watch the trailer here, but do note that it contains spoilers for the anime.
The live action film will open in Japanese theatres on 9th July later this year. Initially, the film was scheduled to release last year, but the pandemic has caused it to be rescheduled to the aforementioned date. Whether the film will release overseas still remains unclear.
Tokyo Revengers is a story about 26-year-old Takemichi Hanagaki and his journey in trying to save his ex-girlfriend, Hinata Tachibana, from being murdered. Takemichi ends up travelling back in time, 12 years into the past when he was still with Hinata. As a result, he attempts to rewrite the future, learn more about his time travel powers and uncover the mystery behind Hinata’s impending fate.
Written and illustrated by Ken Wakui, Tokyo Revengers started off as a manga series back in March of 2017. The anime aired just this month, with Liden Films at the helm of its production.
You can watch the anime on YouTube through Muse Asia’s YouTube channel. For more details on the Tokyo Revengers live action film, you can follow the official Twitter account.
