A Tokyo Revengers cosplay group in Japan was nearly arrested by authorities after they were mistaken for being actual gangsters. The group was cosplaying as the Tokyo Manji Gang, a fictional biker gang from popular manga and anime series Tokyo Revengers in a public facility.
The cosplayers reportedly had permission from the facility administration to conduct their photoshoot. However, onlookers who weren’t aware that it was a Tokyo Revengers cosplay photoshoot contacted the authorities to intervene.
A video of the photoshoot was uploaded by Twitter user @mikasamansa. The tweet, which was now deleted, also drew criticism from other Twitter users due to the nature of the cosplay.
This isn’t the first time Tokyo Revengers cosplayers got in trouble with the authorities. In October earlier this year, Reddit user u/TargetMisser posted a picture of Tokyo Revengers cosplayers in Italy getting into trouble with the police. The issue was apparently due to the resemblance of the Manji symbols on the cosplayers’ outfits with the Swastika.
In other related news, earlier this week, it was announced that Tatsuhisa Suzuki, the voice actor of Ken Ryuguji aka Draken in Tokyo Revengers will not be reprising his role in the anime. Suzuki was allegedly cheating on his wife, popular singer LiSA.
