TiMi Studios, the developer behind Pokémon Unite and Call of Duty: Mobile, is reportedly working on an open world Need for Speed mobile game. This is based on job listings from a career recruitment page under Tencent Games, the holding company of TiMi Studios.
Reddit user RemKiad brought this light over on the Need For Speed subreddit. As Need for Speed Online is the only car racing game yet to be released as seen in Tencent’s latest product list, the odds are extremely high that the job listings point towards the game. Another major indicator is the mention of “famous IP” under job listings, which all but narrow down the game to Need for Speed Online Mobile. The game will be made using Unreal Engine 4.
Amongst the new positions that are looking to be filled includes the likes of project managers, development engineers, 3D animators and artists based around Shenzhen and Shanghai.
Note that Tencent Games and TiMi Studios have yet to announce Need for Speed Online for mobile devices. As the game is still under development, there is no official release date for the game. The latest Need for Speed title for mobile is Need for Speed: Heat released back in 2019.
