Vespa has announced a closed beta test for their upcoming mobile “next generation tower defense RPG” game, Time Defenders, set in a future Tokyo in the year 2034. Besides the whole tower defense battles, there looks to be an element of base building and character interaction, which is pretty standard. Time Defenders will be running their closed beta test sometime in April, with applications currently open. There will be 1,000 users for both iOS and Android, while 4Gamer applications will open it up to an additional select 50. You can watch a couple of its TV commercials that will be airing until 26 March below:
Likewise, a teaser website for the closed beta has gone live – which you can check out here – alongside its official Twitter account for future updates, found here.
An easy comparison can be made to Arknights, of course, being a fellow tower defense game. Time Defenders utilizes 3D models over chibi spriteworks, and its map design likewise appear more complex besides the fancier effects on skills. The grids don’t look immediately apparent at first glance either. Going by the TV spot, the UI might look a little too cluttered, but of course, it’s only an ad and the closed beta is likely to bring about changes. Summer is relatively soon for its release, so look forward to it.
