All weekend long people have been celebrating Final Fantasy VII’s Tifa Lockhart as an unofficial spokesperson for Italy, following her surprise appearance during an Italian Senate meeting last week.

Unlike the video of her appearance during the Senate, a lot of the memes of Tifa in Italy are actually pretty wholesome- featuring the Final Fantasy Heroine sporting the country’s national flag in totally uncompromising positions.
Fanartists in particular are taking the opportunity to draw Tifa, who by many standards is already an incredibly popular character to do fanart of.
Having her be associated with the same country that served for the backdrop of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Vento Aureo is simply a great prompt for artists looking for an excuse to draw her again.
Of course, it wouldn’t be Italy without some reference to Italian cuisine, and the fanart community didn’t disappoint:
A hero to italians everywhere 🇮🇹 🤌

It wasn’t just the 2D artists either- fans made sure to update her elegant dress from Final Fantasy VII Remake to represent her new Italian citizenship in a way that was only slightly more subtle than giving her a Mario mustache:
Tifa knows, you all know.

Of course, the image macro artists were sure to whip out some choice memes as well, because you couldn’t have a social media event without them:

Considering the absolute abysmal state of the world, it’s just the uplifting boost we need having people celebrate elected lawmakers watch everyone’s PS1 crush get her back blown out for 30 seconds.
