During THQ Nordic’s online showcase, the publisher announced a new Alone in the Dark remake, the seventh mainline entry in the franchise.
Alone in the Dark shares the same title as the original Alone in the Dark that inspired Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami. The original Alone in the Dark released back in 1992 and holds the record for being the first ever 3D survival horror game. An earlier remake of the game which shared the exact same title released in 2008. The latest Alone in the Dark showed off in the presentation has not set a release date.
Developed by Pisces Entertainment, which also made Magicka 2, and published by THQ Nordic, the game is set in 1920s America and appears to be a faithful adaptation of the original, unlike the 2008 version which takes place during our modern day.
Players can play as either Emily Hartwood and Edward Carnby, the two playable characters of the original game as they solve mysteries and fight against the supernatural. A creepy atmosphere and vile creatures await in the Derceto Manor where most the game’s events will take place.
