It was an amazing day yesterday with Nintendo introducing new Pokemon titles to fans all around the world. The titles were Pokemon Sword And Pokemon Shield which takes place in a whole new region, the Galar Region. Above all, we get to see the new protagonist and starter Pokemons.
The Galar Region
The new region is breathtaking, with a whole lot different environments ranging from an idyllic country side to snow-covered mountains. Hence, giving players the excitement to explore the new area. Some fans pointed out that the new region is heavily based on the U.K, also the title did give off a little hint. ( Sword and Shield = Knights of the Round Table )

Gen 8 Starter Pokemons
Moving on from that, we have our 8th Gen starter Pokemons. Starting from;
A Grass type mischievous chimp that is full of curiosity, a Fire type rabbit brimming with energy, and a timid Water type lizard that hides away after sending out attacks. It’s certainly a news to be excited of but personally my hopes for the game vanished into thin air when the starters were being introduced.
By comparing the 8th Gen starters to the previous ones, it looks rather dull and boring. It lacks the punch like what the first few Gen had, like the Fire type Charmander from Gen 1, Water type Totodile from Gen 2 and Grass type Treecko from Gen 3. The only ray of hope left for me is that these starter Pokemons get awesome transformation through their evolution. This is all subjective, I’m not that into it but others might.
Pokemon Encounters
Everything from the new titles look awesome (except the starters, in my opinion) but we can see some changes from the game footage. One of it is that Pokemon Sword And Pokemon Shield will be going back to random encounters. There will not be any Pokemon running around in the overworld, like in the Let’s Go series. The new Pokemon titles might not be so lively because Pokemon in the overworld is what made the Let’s Go series vibrant.
Pokemon Sword And Pokemon Shield is set to be released worldwide in the late 2019. We’ll have to wait to see if the game lives up to our expectation. What are your thoughts on the new Pokemon games?
