Last year, Square Enix announced a beautiful 1/6 Masterline Final Fantasy VI statue featuring main protagonist Terra Bradford in her iconic magitek armor.
Today, they have announced the price of the statue and its high sum of ¥1,485,000, or roughly $11,500 USD. That’s a lot of gil.
Pre-orders for the statue in Japan will launch on the 25th of April 2022, at 11 a.m. JST. It will be available through a special Square Enix store page. The statue will ship out to Japan on July 28th, 2023.
For comparison, the previous Masterline figure of the Nier Automata protagonists costs $3100. This will be more than three times as much.
The statue was always going to be expensive as the Masterline figures are known for their high quality, highly detailed sculps. We can’t deny that this is true of the stunning Final Fantasy VI statue however you’ll have to be quite the diehard Final Fantasy VI fan to be picking this one up.
Even the creator of Final Fantasy and producer of Final Fantasy VI, Hironobu Sakaguchi has said on Twitter that he thinks it’s a bit too much.
これは、ないな。

“Yeah, no. Even in comparison to the cost of creating dioramas for Fantasian. Isn’t this a bit much? Are you okay, Square-Enix?” [Translation by @Cheesemeister3k].
Final Fantasy VI was recently re-released as part of the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series for PC and mobile. It features updated sprites and music for the game.
