The upcoming PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt have been delayed indefinitely says developer and publisher CD Project Red.
In a tweet, CDPR says that they are going to do the remaining work on the port of The Witcher 3 in-house and will require more time to make the game for the next-generation hardware.
We have decided to have our in-house development team conduct the remaining work on the next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. We are currently evaluating the scope of work to be done and thus have to postpone Q2 release until further notice. 1/2

The Witcher 3 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S was reportedly going to release in Q2 of 2022 however it is unlikely that this will be the case now. With the game delayed indefinitely, it may very well not release this year at all, especially if they are completely shifting developments teams from an outsourced developer to in-house.
CDPR has said they will update fans with more information “as soon as we can”.
The developer’s previous game Cyberpunk 2077 was criticized for feeling unfinished on the PS4 and Xbox One. It was later found that much of the development staff felt the game wasn’t ready for its 2020 release.
With this in mind perhaps it is best that CDPR take their time in updating The Witcher 3 and make sure that it is properly polished for its next-gen debut.
For those that want to play the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, it is available for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
