Some of you may have already come across the advertisements and skipped them on instinct, but The Legend of Neverland is garnering some attention for appearing to be a Genshin Impact clone. You’ve likely seen Daniel Ahmad’s tweet regarding The Legend of Neverland, with a few side-by-side comparisons with Genshin Impact to really draw the clone similarities together.
The Legend of Neverland itself has opened pre-registrations since 21 May for its SEA launch, with a closed beta test having concluded 15 May. For the editor, something additionally amusing is the fact that Neverland players are referred to as “Cabala Warriors”, as a former player of Trickster Online; more of a bemused observation than anything else.
Genshin itself has not been immune to accusations of being a “clone”, or even outright “plagiarism”, with this enlightening article from Panda!Yoo talking about the feelings of Chinese netizens that people outside of the country may find hard to understand.
Whatever the case, it is hard to debate the impact Genshin has had on the world at large, with spending going strong and hype over new characters often trending for anyone remotely interested in gaming. Time will tell just how long lasting it will be.
