The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel is getting a TV anime series based on the games according to its developer, Nihon Falcom.
The developer made this announcement during its 40th anniversary live stream. You can watch the live stream on YouTube here:
In order to bring this anime to life, Nihon Falcom is joining forces with several other companies. This project will also involve UserJoy, Funimation Global Group, Content Fund SYOU, and NADA Holdings. Currently, this anime is set to release in 2022 at an unspecified date.
Trails of Cold Steel stretches across four games in total. This tetralogy features Rean Schwarzer as the protagonist. Rean goes from student to instructor of Thors Military Academy in the Erebonian Empire over the course of the games.
However, the anime will not be focusing entirely on Rean and his exploits throughout Trails of Cold Steel. Instead, the anime will focus on the western part of the Zemurian continent as a whole. Whether this means we will have a different protagonist or an entirely unrelated story the game remains unknown. However, it is likely that the story will take place within the same universe.
As for the gamers, Trails of Cold Steel IV will be releasing its English version on the Switch on 9th April. For more details, check out its website.
