Capcom put out a new trailer for The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles, showing off more of the setting of the latest in the point-and-click mystery games.
The game is a spinoff of the Ace Attorney series, putting you in the shoes of Ryunosuke Naruhodo, ancestor of Phoenix Wright. Coming to the UK, he solves crimes with his partner Susato, as well as the Great Detective Herlock Sholmes.
However, it’s more than just an Ace Attorney game with an old-timey coat of paint. The game introduces two new mechanics to make sure you’re doing your due diligence as both an investigator and a lawyer.
The first of these is the Dance of Deduction, in which Herlock and Ryunosuke must make important deductions on the spot. The demo we were shown showed this happening at pretty pivotal parts of the game, and it looks like it will take a lot of cues from the Locks of previous Ace Attorney games.
Herlock Sholmes will make a series of grand deductions, with some of them being off the mark, so it’s up to you to steer him back on the right path by examining all the evidence.
Secondly, the next feature was related to how court battles work. Rather than cross-examining witnesses, it looks like you’ll instead be deliberating with jurors, who will need to be won over if you want your client proven innocent.
The Great Ace Attorney releases on PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC July 27th.
