The Game Awards has kicked off voting for its Players’ Voice category ahead of the awards show next week.
While the other categories do feature public voting, the Players’ Voice vote is the only category of The Game Awards entirely decided by public polling.
Rather than have it as an all-in-one, the category is split up into three rounds, with titles being eliminated as voting continues.
The first round is available for voting now until November 29th, and fans are able to nominate up to 10 games to move on to the next round.
Nominated games cover games that are already nominated for awards like Baldur’s Gate 3, as well as games that were left out of other categories like Octopath Traveler II and Hogwarts Legacy.
It should be noted that since the Ongoing Games category also covers games not necessarily released in the same year, those games are also eligible for Players’ Choice- seeing the return of titles like Genshin Impact, Fortnite and Warframe in this category.
This year’s The Game Awards is a hotly contested race- many critics agree the year has been incredibly strong for games, with multiple critically acclaimed titles releasing this year from remakes like Dead Space and Resident Evil 4 to triple-A experiences like Final Fantasy XVI, Baldur’s Gate 3 and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
