Fight your way up the corporate ladder with The Company Man, a 2d action-platformer developed by Malaysian studio Forust.
You’ll play as Jim, a new employee at a big company. Armed with email projectiles and a Keyboard sword, you’ll have to fight your coworkers as you embark on your quest to be CEO.
The Company Man features hand-drawn 2d sprites, with enemies being based off of “real-life inspired” coworkers. You’ll have to drink coffee to keep your spirits up, and the game will also feature different zones based on typical corporate departments such as HR. Naturally these are all comically exaggerated and designed like Mega Man stages, with Accounting being an icy tundra and HR having literal mountains made of paperwork.
The game also looks like it has platforming segments, with Jim being able to airdash over certain obstacles. Bosses also look like they’ll need you to use Jim’s full arsenal of moves to beat them, with fights looking straight out of games like Death’s Gambit or Megaman.
Needless to say, this looks like the kind of game you’d want to get if you need something new to scratch your sidescroller itch.
The game’s currently only RM34.99 on Steam, and that’s its regular retail price, rather than a launch discount. It joins other such Malaysian made games as Doctor Who: The Lonely Assassin and No Straight Roads.
