Striking Distance Studios, the developers behind The Callisto Protocol has announced a new roguelike, tentatively titled Project Birdseye.
On March 20th, 2024, the developers suddenly dropped a trailer for the passion project on YouTube, giving players a first look into the upcoming game.
The new fast-action roguelike experience is set in the universe of The Callisto Protocol, specifically in the Black Iron Prison. Since the project is still in development, the team internally refers to the game as Project Birdseye.
“Last year, a small group of us began working on a passion project that was born out of our obsession with easy-to-pick up and play but fun to-master roguelikes.” the description wrote. “We love the world we created for The Callisto Protocol and want to keep playing in that sandbox – and Black Iron Prison is the perfect future-punk playground for the team’s vision. ”
The developers also described Project Birdseye as a side quest that resonated with the team, and it serves as a method for them to expand the world of The Callisto Protocol with something a bit different without impacting development on their next Triple-A game.
As of writing, no additional information regarding the game aside from some in-game footage, nor did they reveal anything about the Triple-A game they are currently working on. But we can expect to see more of Project Birdseye as details for the game get ironed out.
