Puzzle RPG The Bard’s Tale IV: Barrows Deep receives a Director’s Cut version on August 27th! The 2018 game will see a massive overhaul, with current owners getting the update for free. You can watch the trailer below.
Initially billed as a v2.0 update, it seems to have grown far beyond that. InXile Entertainment boasts not only a new late-game chapter, but also UI tweaks, character creation options and full gamepad support as part of the Director’s Cut. “Thousands of fixes and improvements” will be in too. It’s not the first time InXile has done something of a re-release. Wasteland 2’s Director’s Cut featured a similar scale of improvements from the original.
The Bard’s Tale IV plays like a mix of Legend of Grimrock and the Witness, something that didn’t appeal too well to fans of the original. Perhaps the re-release can find its place with a new audience. The Bard’s Tale IV: Director’s Cut will be available through Steam, GOG and the Windows Store come August 27th, free for existing owners and £25/€35/$35 otherwise. Microsoft’s PC Game Pass subscription will also carry it.
Thanks, Rock Paper Shotgun.
