Tokyo Game Show 2024 has concluded with a record-breaking attendance of 274,739 visitors over its four-day run from September 26 to September 29 at Makuhari Messe. This marks a significant increase from the previous year’s 243,238 attendees and a substantial recovery from the 138,192 visitors in 2022.
The event, organized by the Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association (CESA), saw a gradual increase in attendance throughout the week. The first business day on Thursday, September 26, welcomed 42,031 industry professionals, up from 33,706 in 2023. The second business day on Friday saw 45,149 attendees, compared to 36,109 the previous year.
Public days saw even larger crowds, with Saturday, September 28, attracting 97,786 gaming enthusiasts, slightly up from 96,033 in 2023. The final day on Sunday brought in 89,773 visitors, a notable increase from 77,390 on the corresponding day last year.
TGS2024, themed “Trailblaze the World with Gaming,” featured a record-high 985 companies and organizations from 44 countries and regions. The event showcased new game titles for various platforms, including home consoles, smart devices, PCs, and VR, alongside a wide array of game-related products and services.
The exhibition also facilitated a record-breaking 3,669 business negotiations through its Business Matching System, highlighting the event’s importance in fostering industry connections.
In addition to the in-person event, TGS2024 offered 20 official programs live-streamed on multiple platforms, including YouTube, X, Twitch, and niconico. The virtual venue, Tokyo Game Show Digital World 2024, will continue to welcome online visitors until October 6. Looking ahead, Tokyo Game Show 2025 is scheduled for September 25 to 28 at Makuhari Messe, with organizers promising further innovations for the evolving gaming industry.
