From the creative mind that brought us Angel Beats! and Clannad, comes new story and gameplay details for mobile RPG Heaven Burns Red. This was revealed during Wright Flyer Studio’s Tokyo Game Show 2021 showcase which focused entirely on the upcoming game.
The studio dropped a new promotional video for Heaven Burns Red, which you can watch below:
The PV sheds a bit more light on Cancer, the interstellar enemy which is laying siege on humanity. Its name, “Cancer” is due to it being the cancer cells in the “body” of the universe. We can also see an ominous timer ticking down in the PV. When it reaches zero, it will mark the defeat of humanity.
Bleak future aside, Heaven Burns Red tasks players with the role of fighting against Cancer, by recruiting and sending off girls to fight them, obviously. Characters in the game wield Seraph—weapons that can harm Cancer, and what better way to get these characters than gacha.
During the gameplay segment of the Heaven Burns Red showcase, it was revealed that players can take up to 6 characters into combat, with 3 in the frontline and 3 in reserve. There were 6 classes in total, namely Attacker, Breaker, Debuffer, Blaster, Buffer and Healer. The combat uses a turn-based RPG system. Players can freely switch between the backline and frontline.
At the time of writing, the game has secured over 150,000 pre-registrations. There was no mention of an English release.
More details for the game will be revealed on another live stream on October 14, 2021. In the meantime, visit the game’s website for more information.
