The game adaptation for the Shadowverse anime, Shadowverse: Champions Battle has revealed more details via Tokyo Game Show Online 2020. The full stream can be watched below:
Shadowverse is a mobile and PC collectible card game, with a vastly different presentation than in the anime. Still, the anime and its game keeps the core mechanics of its base game. Champions Battle will be released in Japan on 5 November 2020, with a global release unknown.
Champions Battle has you play your protagonist, who can be either male or female. There is some measure of world exploration as you go round to chat up the characters in the anime, find items scattered around, or accept quests.
Battles work similarly to the original mobile game, complete with evolution points. The card expansions shown so far are the Classic, Darkness Evolved and Rise of Bahamut sets with cards you can purchase from vendors too. Thrown into the mix are the anime original cards, like the signature cards of the various anime characters e.g. Hiiro’s Ignis Dragon. You can play with other players online or locally. Earn points for the in-game battlepass, which will provide a variety of rewards.
The game also has an NFC feature, though methods of purchase for these so-called premium cards were not disclosed.
