[TGS 2020] New Monster Hunter Stories 2 Details

Fans were treated to a large helping of story details for the upcoming Monster Hunter Stories 2 : Wings of Ruin. The team talked more about the protagonist, as well as two key characters in the game’s story.

Red, The Great Monster Rider

One of the biggest bombshells from today’s Capcom presentation was that the character previously shown, Red, was not actually the player character. Rather, they’re a famous Monster Rider whose Monstie, Ratha is connected to Ena. Red also has a Kinship Crystal, which is required to deepen your bonds with monsters.

Ena

Ena is a Wyverian, the long-lived second race in the Monster Hunter universe. She has one of Ratha’s eggs, though the team says the reason why can’t be revealed yet.

The Protagonist

The actual Player character is the descendant of Red, who receives Ratha’s Egg from Ena. The Protagonist can also carry weapons from regular Monster Hunter to fight alongside their Monstie. Not all the weapons have been confirmed to be making the jump to Stories, though.

From what they’ve shown, classic weapons like the Greatsword, Hammer, Hunting Horn and Sword & Shield are all in the game.

The team were mum on story details, so we still know about as much as we did the last time they showed Monster Hunter Stories 2. We’ll just have to wait as we get closer to the game’s Summer 2021 release date.
