As you may or may not recall, Contra: Rogue Corps for first announced by Konami back at E3 2019. A demo for the game has gone live, and you can grab it for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Switch. PC users will however have to wait for the actual game release. Before reading on, be sure to check out the live gameplay demo below:
Konami has certainly tweaked the tried and test Contra formula somewhat, so now we have a third-person twin sticks shooter. It is difficult to gauge what the reception towards this is, as while purists may not appreciate this change, there might be a new audience that may favour it.
There are four characters to choose from, and you can either go at it solo or make a full party of four. And yes, there is local couch co-operative play. Apart from the PVE mode, there is also PVP. Not much is new here that hasn’t been done already by other similar games, so all Contra: Rogue Corps has for it going for the time being is the legacy of the franchise.
