In the game, players will fight for the Osean Air Defense Force during the Second Usean Continental War in 2019. According to the producers, the game is getting a lot of new features specified for VR mode. For example, the health meter, bullet count and radar are all shown on the screen in the cockpit, you can also get a 360° view of your surroundings. You can feel the air pressure and speed when you fly near the ground, the enemy units on the ground will automatically attack you too.
There will be a VR-only auto-aim feature that allows you to lock on the enemy plane just by looking at it with your camera. Other than these, there will be 3 different modes available for VR gameplay – VR Missions, VR Hangar and VR Air Show.
In VR Missions mode, you will be able to experience takeoff and landing as you complete the full-fledged aerial combat missions. VR Hangar mode allows you to walk around and check out the planes in the hangar, while VR Air Show offers you a chance to watch the impressive air show with up to 22 manoeuvres!
As the concept for VR mode is to offer players a realistic experience of being a pilot, the cockpit will show dramatic damage when being attacked too. The warning lights will turn on and if your aircraft is shot down, the cockpit will be filled with fire and smoke.
Due to technical difficulties, players will only experience Sunny days in the VR mode. The producers confirmed that no multiplayer is available in VR mode, so far there is no news about the PC version of Ace Combat 7 VR as well.
For now, we have F/A-18F, F-22A and Su-30M2 for the VR mode. The producers reveal that there will be more aircraft to be announced for the VR mode, so stay tuned for more updates!
