SEGA has revealed the meaning behind its cryptic teaser from earlier this week- multiple new entries for classic titles like Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio.
Revealed at The Game Awards 2023, SEGA showed off snippets of various classic titles that are getting new entries, with even more promised on the horizon.
Here’s the list of all the confirmed titles currently in development:
- Jet Set Radio
- Shinobi
- Golden Axe
- Streets of Rage
- Crazy Taxi
SEGA only describes these titles as “New games”, but hasn’t clarified if they would be altogether new entries or remakes of older titles.
Given SEGA’s recent success with IPs like Like A Dragon, Sonic The Hedgehog and Persona, it’s unsurprising the publisher would be going to explore more of its back catalogue.
Jet Set Radio in particular is one title many fans have been clamoring for a new entry for- enough that many who grew up playing the games would go on to make their own spiritual send-ups like indie game Bomb Rush Cyberfunk.
Fans had originally speculated this announcement would be tied to a new Virtua Fighter- due largely in part to many fighting game-adjacent content creators receiving mysterious Envelopes ahead of this year’s The Game Awards 2023.
