After much fan anticipation, Capcom finally unveiled Monster Hunter Wilds, the next entry and the first game into the sixth generation of the multiplayer action RPG series.
Revealed during The Game Awards 2023 today in Los Angeles, Monster Hunter Wilds is set to release into the hands of hunters in 2025 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC via Steam.
Seeing that the platforms have been revealed, this indicates that Monster Hunter Wilds might be released to all platforms simultaneously without delays between them.
Not much information has been revealed about the game but series producer Ryōzō Tsujimoto took on the stage and unveiled that more information will be shared during Summer 2024.
From the reveal trailer, there are some interesting new concepts being showcased for the first time in the franchise.
The most notable feature is that Palamute from Monster Hunter Rise, the previous entry has been replaced by a new birdlike bipedal mount.
This mount seems to be able to hop from tall rock formations to tall rock formations and glide from high altitudes.
Into the Wilds
Another highlight of the trailer is that weather effects and environmental hazards will play a big part in spicing up the hunt as lightning can be seen striking down and sandstorms shrouding up the screen.
Small monster density has also increased greatly and herds of herbivores can be seen stampeding the desert gorge and proven to be quite an obstacle to the hunter.
Interestingly, if you look closely at the hunter and its mount, you can spot the hunter has a Greatsword at his back but also a Light Bowgun in his mount’s satchel.
Aside from the series flagship Rathalos, no large monsters have been revealed yet so far.
