Final Fantasy XVI now has a release date for summer next year, the 23rd of June 2023. The game is also available for Pre-order.
The was announced at The Game Award 2022, alongside a brand new trailer showing more of the combat and the summons.
“The flames of vengeance burn bright and beckon with ambitious hunger. Awaken the Eikons, but will you dominate them or will they dominate you?”
Final Fantasy XVI returns the series back to a medieval fantasy setting. The game stars Clive Rosfield, the firstborn child of the Archduke of Rosaria who embarks on a quest for revenge and desire to protect his younger brother Joshua. Joshua is next in line to become the Archduke and has inherited the eikon (summon) Pheonix, allowing him to wield its power.
Alongside the release date, the new trailer for Final Fantasy XVI gave us a darker look at the title’s world with an emphasis on betrayal and revenge (just like the title of the trailer).
The game will be an action RPG with a focus on fast-paced combat and fights between the different Eikons to the point that it will use health bars for bosses and enemies as opposed to numbers.
Final Fantasy XVI will launch for the PS5 on the 23rd of June. It will be exclusive to the PS5 for at least six months.
