Obsidian Entertainment has unveiled gameplay of The Outer Worlds 2, promising players a fresh interstellar journey set to launch in 2025. Revealed during The Game Awards 2024, the upcoming RPG will transport players to Arcadia, a brand-new colony teeming with complex narrative possibilities.
The game follows an Earth Directorate agent tasked with investigating devastating rifts threatening the entire galaxy. Players will navigate a volatile landscape marked by an ongoing factional conflict between the Protectorate, a scientific religious order, and a powerful corporate entity, each with their own motivations for controlling or closing the mysterious rifts.
True to Obsidian’s reputation, The Outer Worlds 2 emphasizes player choice and character customization. Players can craft their commander’s abilities, engage in skill-based conversations, and shape the narrative through their decisions. The game will feature companion characters who will react to and judge the player’s choices, adding depth to the interactive experience.
The single-player RPG will be available on multiple platforms, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Xbox app. Game Pass subscribers will have immediate access to the title upon release.
As an additional bonus for fans, a Secret Level anthology series episode streaming on Prime Video will offer a short story bridging the narrative between the first and second Outer Worlds games, set to premiere on December 17. Players interested in the upcoming space adventure can currently wishlist the game on Xbox Series X|S, the Xbox app for Windows PC, and Steam.
