Hasbro has announced Transformers REACTIVATE, an upcoming Transformers co op game coming to PC and consoles.
While the reveal at The Game Awards didn’t yield too much in the way of actual gameplay information, the game’s website and YouTube channel provided more context on what the game actually was.
As per the YouTube channel:
“Fight back against the Legion in TRANSFORMERS: REACTIVATE, the new 1-4 player online action game from Splash Damage. “
Looking at the developers Splash Damage, it’s hard to suss out just exactly what Transformers REACTIVATE is going to be, gameplay wise- the developers have experience across multiple genres, such as the strategy RPG Gears Tactics and the FPS Dirty Bomb.
Considering the lack of any familiar faces in the trailer among the enemies, it’s safe to assume The Legion are an entirely new threat- likely unconnected to the Decepticons.
What the trailer does show off, however, is what appears to be Autobots Ironhide and Ratchet also fighting off the Legion in their vehicular modes.
Transformers fans are hungry for a new Transformers console experience- the last shooter with the Transformers branding was High Moon’s Cybertron trilogy on the PS3, famously delisted following licensing issues with Activision.
From the trailer, the HUD in some of the segments seems to imply that REACTIVATE would bring the series to first person, though we’ll have to stand by for further information to confirm it.
