Kojima Productions has announced DS2, the sequel to their debut title Death Stranding for PS5
The game has only been announced to be in development, with no gameplay or release date set for the hotly anticipated sequel.
In typical Kojima fashion, there’s not much we actually know about DS2- the game picks up after the events of the original Death Stranding, and sees the return of Fragile as well as Sam Porter-Bridges.
However the trailer does feature some callbacks to the original announcement for Death Stranding, such as the disappearing BB in the trailer.
We’re also treated to potentially new enemies, including yet another masked antagonist and what appears to be a new twist to the BBs- though there’s nothing we can confirm until we actually see gameplay for the title.
Death Stranding launched to a lot of critical acclaim- fans were excited to see more of Hideo Kojima’s unique brand of storytelling, mixing esoteric philosophy with a cast of Hollywood A-listers.
The game has you playing as Sam Porter-Bridges, as you journey across the post-apocalyptic US to reconnect the remnants of humanity and deliver packages while building a relationship with your Bridge Baby.
Kojima even joked on-stage about the original game’s unfortunate timing releasing before the pandemic, saying that he had to re-write the story for the sequel following the pandemic.
