Tencent will release its open-world RPG, Honor of Kings: World, in 2025, as revealed during the Apple Event. The announcement coincided with the unveiling of new Apple devices, including the iPhone 16 range of smartphones.
Apple highlighted that Honor of Kings: World would feature an “ultra graphics mode” optimized for the iPhone 16. This mode will deliver enhanced visual fidelity, including higher resolution, advanced lighting effects, “powerful global illumination technology”, and expanded viewing distance. It’s worth noting that Apple did not specify whether this mode would be exclusive to the iPhone platform.
Prior to this announcement, the Honor of Kings World YouTube account released the most recent footage of the game, a six-minute gameplay trailer, on October 28th, 2023.
Developed by Tencent’s TiMi Studio, Honor of Kings: World is planned for a multi-platform release when it launches next year. The game is a spin-off of the immensely popular MOBA, Honor of Kings, which has generated an impressive $17.36 billion worldwide from the App Store and Google Play, according to AppMagic estimates. It’s important to note that this figure primarily reflects revenue from China’s App Store and doesn’t include player spending on third-party Android stores.
The original Honor of Kings had its global release on June 20, 2024 marking a shift from the previous strategy of launching localized versions of games, such as Arena of Valor, in various regions. As the 2025 release date approaches, gaming enthusiasts and Honor of Kings fans alike are eagerly anticipating more details about this expansive open-world RPG.
