Tencent to publish Our Planet, a mobile exploration sandbox game

Tencent Games will be publishing the Wuwang Technology developed sci-fi exploration, sandbox game, Our Planet. Built with Unreal Engine 4, the partnership between Tencent Games and Wuwang Technology will see Our Planet be available on mobile devices, though no release date has been given or if it will be available on other platforms such as PC.

As you can see, the game does look really reminiscent of No Man’s Sky, as you explore the various biomes across planets, encountering the endemic life from the plants to the largest creatures roaming the lands. The trailer showcases quite free movement in both the air and water with the jetpack on your character’s back. There’s a snowboarding sequence and the possibility of mounts, so vehicles besides your spacecraft seem pretty likely. There will also be space flight in your rocket, of course, to traverse the massive galaxy to reach the other planets. Whether there will be NPCs you’ll meet along the way or other players isn’t clear just from the cinematics, but it does look pretty.

For people excited over the game, remember to temper that hype lest it blow back similarly to No Man’s Sky, and it’s also unknown if the game will make its way outside of China.
