Tencent announces Tetris Adventure for mobile

Tencent Games announced Tetris Adventure for mobile at their annual games conference, to be developed by Changyou. According to Daniel Ahmad, Tetris Adventure will be a “complete Tetris experience which includes a 101 person battle royale mode”. The battle royale mode is a curious addition considering Tetris 99 exists, but it would suggest it’s just one part of the whole game.

Going by the name, the game might have certain RPG elements, somehow, which would be very interesting to see in practice. Spins (ha) on the ol’ Tetris formula sounds much like a novelty, for sure. The game seems to be currently only available for the China market, though perhaps the widespread popularity of the classic game combined with Tencent’s publishing prowess, could see it make its way internationally at some point.

The game looks to be releasing within 2021, so fans can stay tuned and wonder what the game as a whole would be like.
