Previously, Netease and The Pokemon Company brought Pokemon Quest to China. The TIMI-developed Pokemon game will be original. TIMI Studio is Tencent’s flagship studio. They are in charge of the world’s highest grossing game, Honor of Kings/Arena of Valor. Mobile versions of Call of Duty and PUBG are also TIMI’s work.
No further details are available regarding the Pokemon project. The trend of foreign developers working with Tencent and co continue, making new games in licensed franchises. Pokemon Quest was China’s first ‘official’ Pokemon game.
Shortly before this, Tencent had announced a partnership with Nintendo to officially bring the Switch to China. It could be interesting should be new game be on both mobile and the Switch.
