With the current sales figures, Tekken 8 has currently heavily outpaced its predecessor, Tekken 7, which achieved its 2 million sales achievement after 4 months.
However, Tekken 7 still reigns supreme in terms of total sales, with it approaching the 12 million milestone at 11.8 million total sales recorded. So while Tekken 8 has heavily outpaced Tekken 7 in first-month sales numbers, only time will tell if this will allow Tekken 8 to take over its predecessor in becoming the best-selling game in the series.
It is worth noting that Tekken 7 started out being released exclusively for arcades in March 2015, with the home version made for PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One launching two years later in June 2017.
This means that when Tekken 7 was ultimately released for consoles, the game was already updated with many features and content.
Tekken 8 is a 3D fighting game that was released on January 26th, 2024, on the PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X|S. The game received overwhelming success on its launch, reaching 1 million sales worldwide on the first day of its release.
Recently, the developers have also announced new features that will be coming to the game in an upcoming update, including a TEKKEN SHOP where players can buy legacy outfits for their characters.
Feel the power of every hit in Tekken 8, the latest entry in the legendary fighting game franchise from Bandai Namco.
