A recent announcement from Riot Games tells us that the mobile port for Teamfight Tactics is soon to be on it’s way. Expected to release in March, the game will also enter Closed Beta Testing for certain countries. We previously talked about it briefly during Riot’s 10 Year Annieversary event.
Cross Platform Play
The game will have cross platform compatibility between PC and Mobile. That means anything you’ve unlocked and any progression you’ve made on one platform will transfer to the other. This way, you won’t need to grind out two different accounts!
Differences from PC
New Aesthetics: Because it has to cater to phone users, TFT Mobile will feature a new, streamlined out-of-game UI for easier queues. It will also focus on brighter and more approachable aesthetics to solidify it’s identity to be different from League of Legends.
In-game Items: In order to make items more “finger-friendly,” TFT mobile has a dedicated items inventory panel. From there, you’ll be able to drag to preview, equip, and combine items the same way you do on PC!
Champion Shop: To save space, the Champion Shop is opened and closed with a button. The shop also automatically opens at the beginning of every round. In addition, the stage tracker only shows the time left in the current phase while the Store is open to make sure you have a complete view of your battlefield.
Chat and Emote: For now, there will not be any in-game chat. However, players can still use their emotes freely. There’s even a dedicated Little Legend emote menu designed for touchscreen use.
Everything else stays the same!
In terms of gameplay, balance and units, everything else will stay the same! This should mean that future updates will port to mobile at the same time, so that’s exciting.
To note, there will not be any other microtransactions in the game upon launch. I really admire this move because it shows that Riot Games has the integrity to focus on the user’s game experience rather than their wallets. Another minor detail is that players from China and Southeast Asia might have to jump through some hoops to get their inventories to port over. More details will be given in the future about Teamfight Tactics Mobile.
