The problem began shortly after the game’s March 11 Steam release, with numerous players taking to the platform’s discussion forums to report their progress had mysteriously disappeared. One player stated their save data “magically vanished” overnight after several hours of gameplay. Other affected users reported losing significant progress, with some claiming losses of 8, 10, or even up to 15 hours of gameplay.
Responding to these widespread reports, Team Ninja issued a statement via their official X account, confirming: “We are currently investigating the reported save data issues for Rise of the Ronin Steam edition.” “We are continuing to investigate this issues along with others,” the studio added.
The developer has provided temporary workarounds for affected players, including instructions for accessing backup save data, additional steps for Steam Cloud saving, and recommendations to disable file sharing for cloud storage services like Google Drive, OneDrive, and Dropbox.
The PC version of Rise of the Ronin, which includes various enhancements such as ultra-wide monitor support, 8K resolution, 120fps capability, 3D audio, and customizable keyboard and mouse settings. PC-exclusive features include DirectX 12 Ultimate support, ray tracing, and compatibility with AMD Fidelity FX Super Resolution and Nvidia DLSS.
