Update 13/06/22: It has now been confirmed that Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty will be coming to PS5 in addition to Xbox Series X|S and PC.
Original Article:
Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja (developers of Ninja Gaiden and Nioh) have announced their latest game, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is in development for Xbox Game Pass and will come to The Series X|S and PC.
This new action game is set in a fantasy version of Three Kingdoms China. In this world, the land has been ravaged by demons and the player controls a soldier who must survive through the fiery battles around them.
The game was announced at the Xbox Bethesda Showcase. You can watch the reveal trailer below:
“Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty follows the dramatic, action-packed story of a nameless militia soldier fighting for survival in a dark fantasy version of the Later Han Dynasty where demons plague the Three Kingdoms.
Players fight off deadly creatures and enemy soldiers using swordplay based on the Chinese martial arts, attempting to overcome the odds by awakening the true power from within.”
This is not the first time Team Ninja and Xbox have teamed up to release a game. Back when the original Xbox was released, the 2004 reboot of Ninja Gaiden was an exclusive for the console, although it was eventually ported to PS3 a few years later. Cool to see them rekindle a past partnership.
The cinematic trailer doesn’t tell us much about how the game will play. It may be a hack ‘n slash game like Ninja Gaiden or a soulslike similar to Nioh, or maybe it’ll be something entirely different. We’ll have to wait and see.
