Taipei Game Show 2020 had been originally rescheduled for 25 to 28 June, but it has been decided that it is now officially cancelled. As the coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19) continues to escalate, this cancellation is also to comply with the latest rules of Taiwan CDC to suspend all indoor events with 100 attendees with its evaluation criteria.
After consulting with most of the exhibitors regarding the health and safety of attendees, the organizing committee confirms that Taipei Game Show 2020 will be cancelled, both B2C Zone and B2B Zone, and the Asia Pacific Game Summit. The team will be arranging full refunds and retention on all exhibitors’ paid fees and deposits.
The World Health Organization (WHO) characterized COVID-19 s a pandemic on 11 March. The cancellation follows the regulations set by Taiwan CDC which includes the entry restriction of foreigners to Taiwan and mass gathering guidelines. Taipei Game Show has been gathering 300,000 visits every year, aand with 235 confirmed cases in Taiwan, there are concerns of further spreading. Certain exhibitors, trade visitors, game developers and guests will also be unable to enter Taiwan due to border control.
Presently, the priority is to comply with guidelines and countermeasures to prevent the epidemic from further spreading. For now, the organizing committee will be planning on an “Online Business Matching Event” and “Taipei Game Show LIVE!” to showcase announcements and news. Further updates will be provided here.
