Tactics Ogre: Reborn had a listing on the Playstation Store, which seems to have been summarily taken down. The game is yet to be announced officially, with Gematsu reporting the listing as well as Square Enix trademarking the title back in March in Japan. When they would announce the series’ “revival” will have to be the usual “wait and see”.
Visiting the listing now simply says the title is not available for purchase. Gematsu shares the two artworks and logo for the game, with the listing not having any actual description. Considering the slew of HD-2D titles the company has been working on, like the upcoming Live-A-Live remake for example, it seems reasonable to expect Tactics Ogre: Reborn could get similar treatment.
The series started with Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen, released in 1993. It consists of 5 games – the last of which initially released in 2001 – with this remake being the latest addition, whenever should it come out. The series has done both real-time strategy and turn-based tactical gameplay, with the Tactics name should be more or less a safe assumption that the remake will take the latter route.
Seeing that Triangle Strategy is out and all, a return to tactics games for Square Enix could hardly be a bad thing.
