Get excited about the ultimate tabletop gaming experience because the organizers have updated TableCon Quest 2024 with a lineup of exciting programs, demos, and activities, including Singapore’s first demo of the ULTRAMAN CARD GAME.
TableCon Quest 2024 is a two-day tabletop gaming convention set to be held at Suntec Convention & Exhibition Centre’s Hall 403, Singapore, on 22 June and 23 June 2024, from 10 am to 8 am for both days.
The event is organized by Eliphant, the organizer of GameStart Asia, a premier gaming event in Singapore from 2014 to 2019, and Genesis Frontier, the official distributor of popular Japanese card games in Asia, such as Cardfight!! Vanguard.
“We are excited to bring together games, activities and exclusive collectibles that will cater to different preferences and interests of gamers, hobbyists and the general public,” said Elicia Lee, Co-founder & Managing Director at Eliphant Pte Ltd.
“Tabletop gaming is seeing huge growth and interest as people look for more in-person interactions with friends and family, and it is a great way to bond and build relationships. The beauty of tabletop games is that the barrier of entry is very low, and there’s bound to be a game for everyone.”
“We are excited to showcase both local and international game titles as well as welcome new players and audiences to this vibrant community. We hope that everyone can come by, reconnect with their friends, have some friendly fun, or simply explore a new game.”
ULTRAMAN CARD GAME and Shadowverse: Evolve Gloryfinder
Following Tsuburaya Productions’ announcements on the ULTRAMAN CARD GAME‘s global launch in Summer 2024, fans of the Kyodai Hero franchise in Singapore will be able to experience the full game firsthand at this year’s TableCon Quest.
Those who learn the game at the boost will be eligible to receive a set of 2 demo decks, which can be merged into a full deck for free, and an exclusive promotional card for the game.
Furthermore, this will be the first convention where players can get to try a demo workshop for the Shadowverse Evolve: Gloryfinder format. Meanwhile, Japanese trading card game fans can look forward to workshops, demos, and event-exclusive cards from Bushiroad, such as promotional cards for Cardfight!! Vanguard and Weiß Schwarz, available only at TableCon Quest.
Satoshi Nakamura, President of Yuhodo and the designer of Cardfight!! Vanguard and Weiß Schwarz, and Eiji Shishido, a seasoned veteran of the trading card game (TCG) industry with more than a decade of experience and now the General Producer for the ULTRAMAN CARD GAME, will be making their guest appearance at TableCon Quest. More details will be shared closer to the date.
Moreover, Attendees can also try out tabletop games such as Grand Archive, Detective Conan Card Game, BUILD-DIVIDE, and BUILD-DIVIDE -BRIGHT-.
On the local front, Origame will be presenting 2 of their latest games – Chock-A-Block, a game about players building colorful apartment (HDB) blocks; and CubeMelt: Getting Dicey, a dice game where players “live like an ice cube, experiencing as much love and adventure as they can before they or their fellow players melt.” Those aren’t the only games you can expect from Origame, as you can also check out their catalog as well as games from Oink Games, Saashi and Saashi, EmperorS4, Taiwan Boardgame Design, and more, at the event.
Indie Game Studios
There will also be an Indie Zone, showcasing the latest Made-in-Singapore tabletop games from 6 indie game studios and developers. Attendees will get to try out demos for their game on-site and buy copies to bring home to play with friends and family. The successful Kickstarter project Isekai the Board Game alongside games from Good Spirit Games, Centrefire Hobbies, Boardverse, and Capital Gains Studio, will be showcased at TableCon Quest. Capital Gains Studio is renowned for its family-friendly games and award-winning finance-themed games, as well as gamification consulting services with recent projects including a studio game with Channel News Asia and a tabletop game with Prudential.
“GameStart Asia, organized by the same team, was the premier tabletop event in Singapore, and its discontinuation was disappointing,” says Xeo Lye, CEO of Capital Gains Studio. “I am thrilled to see the same organizers launching a dedicated tabletop event and look forward to experiencing all the exciting ideas and concepts that made the previous events so popular, now brought to life in Tablecon Quest.”
HAMMER FEST
HammerHouse, a popular local miniature hobbyist and games store, is joining forces with TableCon Quest to hold HAMMER FEST at the event grounds. Newcomers and seasoned hobbyists can expect a weekend of miniature artistry where attendees can paint a free miniature, preview miniatures from popular games such as Warhammer and Marvel: Crisis Protocol, and try their hands at a quick game demo.
Board Games, Miniature Games, Game Demos
Open Play Areas and an extensive Game Library will be available on event grounds, where players can bring their own games to play with friends or meet new people at any free tables. You can also borrow a variety of board games and explore new titles from the Game Library, a collaboration with community group #laiplayleow.
Additionally, game demos of boardgames, miniature games, and tabletop role-playing games will also be available for people to try out or simply watch. Other activities include workshops to assemble model kits, Dungeons & Dragons play sessions for beginners, as well as the miniature painting of TableCon Quest’s Cat Mascot. Advance sign-ups for the sessions are available on the official website.
Network and Learn More About Singapore’s Games Industry
Singapore Games Association (SGGA), Singapore’s primary trade association for the gaming and esports industry, will also be holding its annual Industry Day in TableCon Quest. This event aims to bridge the gap between students and those looking for a career in the games industry, and
Singapore-based game development companies, with the goal of inspiring Singapore-based talents to explore a career in the industry.
9 student game projects will be showcased in this edition for attendees to check out, shortlisted from Institutes of Higher Learning. Singapore-based indie game developer TrueWorld Studios will also showcase their upcoming roguelite First-Person Shooter UNYIELDER. “Attendees can also learn more about the process, opportunities and challenges of creating games in Singapore, from turning inspiration into actual game design to the operational considerations of running a games company, through panel discussions and talks by industry veterans on stage.”
TableCon Quest 2024 is a ticketed event and tickets are now available on the official website, you can check out our previous coverage to learn more about the ticket details.
