Sword Art Online: Memory Defrag will end service in August, according to the official website. The website’s notice is given as follows:
We regret to announce the closure of SWORD ART ONLINE MEMORY DEFRAG. Thank you all for your support and we hope you enjoyed playing. We will be keeping the servers open until 12:00 JST Aug 30, 2021, so please continue to enjoy SWORD ART ONLINE MEMORY DEFRAG until the very end.
All items can be used until the last day, so if you have any items or Memory Diamond in your account, please use them before Aug 30, 2021. Also, from today, we are disabling the purchase of Memory Diamond.
For more information, please check in-game announcements.
Perhaps the end of service for Memory Defrag isn’t particularly surprising, considering how the Facebook page hasn’t been updated since end of May. The game is also now no longer available for download. The closure applies to all servers, so fans don’t have the Japanese one to fall back on either. Since its launch in January 2017, the 4 1/2 years or so of service is pretty decent for a mobile title, all things considered.
There’s still plenty of other Sword Art Online mobile games you can try out, so this won’t be the end.
