An event originally celebrating the series’ 10th anniversary of publication, fans can now get tickets to the SWORD ART ONLINE EX-CHRONICLE online exhibition! The initial showcase of the event can be seen below:
“Sword Art Online (SAO)” is a hugely successful light novel, with over 22 million copies sold worldwide. A compelling human drama set inside an online game, this story explores the positive and negative impacts of technologies like VR and AI on humanity. At the event SWORD ART ONLINE EX-CHRONICLE, which marked the 10th anniversary of the book’s publication, Sony Group creators and engineers bring SAO to life through the collaboration of entertainment and developmental technologies, creating new excitement for a world yet-to-be seen in reality.
In this video, “Sword Art Online” author Reki Kawahara and anime series producer Masami Niwa, as well as Sony’s young engineers share their aspirations for creating a new future through entertainment and technology.

Pre-sales for tickets have already been open, and will be available until 31 October 2021, 23:59 JST. A regular ticket will set you back 1,800 yen for viewing on a PC or mobile device. You can also view the event in VR, tickets priced at 2,300 yen. Global fans can look forward to an international version sometime 2022.
Seems that fans may also be able to face off against the Skull Reaper too, but only in VR. You can check out the event website here.
