Finnish developer Supercell has announced the end of its in-development single-player action RPG Clash Heroes, but also a reboot of it into Project R.I.S.E.
Shortly after the shutdown of Clash Mini, fans had a hunch that Clash Heroes might suffer the same fate, and it turned out to come true but it is also being rebooted in spirit through Project R.I.S.E – which the developers described as a “social action RPG roguelite”.
“Clash Heroes is dead. That’s the bad news,” said game lead Julien Le Cadre in the announcement video. “The good news is that Project R.I.S.E is still a Clash game, and the better news is that it’s now a multiplayer-focused action RPG.”
Community manager ‘Frame’ added, “Project R.I.S.E is not Clash Heroes, but it’s set in the Clash universe and built from the ground up as a social action RPG roguelite. So, while some visual parts of Clash Heroes are still around, the game is brand new, and it focuses on more of a social aspect and playing together with various characters, rather than just you doing PvE dungeons.”
Le Cadre further explained, “In Project R.I.S.E, you’ll be playing as a Clash character and teaming up with two other players to explore a mysterious place only known as The Tower. Each session takes place on a different floor of the tower, and teams try to get as high as they can.”
“We’re still very early, but we want to invite you to try out a pre-alpha version of the game and tell us what you think. We are aiming to have our first playtest in early July.”
As mentioned, the first playtest is scheduled for early July 2024, and for those interested, you can register via the official website for a chance to participate.
