Nintendo has just announced at its half year financial results briefing for its fiscal year ending March 2018 that total downloads for Super Mario Run have surpassed the 200 million mark.
Over 90% of the downloads were unsurprisingly from international sources, with the remaining 10% from its home country of Japan. Despite the number of downloads, Nintendo revealed that it has yet to achieve an “acceptable profit point,” although it has “learned a lot in terms of game development and deployment that we want to take advantage of moving forward.”
Super Mario Run was first made available on iOS devices in December 2016, followed suit with Android devices in March 2017. In case you were living under a rock and have no idea what the game entails, this is pretty much a standard Mario game redesigned to be an endless runner for mobile platforms.
