Street Fighter Duel, a mobile game spin-off of the Street Fighter series has just launched today and is already pushing a hefty price tag for the ‘Fashion Sakura’ unit going for a price of £50-£99.99 British Pounds depending on a lucky draw. That’s roughly $60 USD/RM271 to $120 USD/RM540.
Fashion Sakura is an alternate version of Sakura that is a ‘legendary fighter’ of S rarity. For a limited time of 60 days, she can be found in the in-game store called “The Mall’ in the sub-section called the “Fight Mall’.
The price of Sakura is based on a lucky draw but the discounted prices aren’t much better. Upon opening the Fight Mall page, players are asked to pick between three cards. Depending on which of the three cards you pick, you’ll gain a discount of 10, 30, or 50 percent. I was lucky enough to get the 50 percent card although this still meant the fighter cost £50 ($60 USD or RM271).
According to the Fight Mall page, this discount will only last for 30 days of the Fashion Sakura 60-day limited run, meaning that those who don’t download her during this time will have to pay the full £100 if they want her later on.
You can actually get the regular Sakura in her usual sailor uniform through the standard gacha banner as a B-grade fighter. If you really want everyone’s favorite Ryu fan girl you can pull for her without spending any real-world money via in game-currency. The two Sakuras are however separate playable characters with different moves and stats.
It’s possible that players may be able to pull for Fashion Sakura through the gacha system or unlock her through some event in the future but as of this article, she isn’t shown on the standard recruit banner rates so she’s seemingly not included there.
I’ll admit that Fashion Sakura looks cool in her urban streetwear but I don’t think she’s worth £50 to recruit for your team in Street Fighter Duel.
Street Fighter Duel is available for mobile devices in most regions.
