In a rather odd collaboration, Street Fighter developer Capcom has partnered with beverage giant Suntory as part of a “The Strong Fighter II” campaign. The highlight of this mashup is the augmented reality game which can be downloaded for smartphones through scanning a special QR code. You can then scan a bottle of Suntory’s THE STRONG sparkling spring water before engaging in an ice-breaking strength test using either Ryu or Chun Li. The game boasts the original sprites and the characters’ signature moves, as well as of course the necessary button inputs.
For context, the campaign serves to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Street Fighter franchise. THE STRONG on the other hand is Suntory’s line of ‘extra carbonated’ sparkling water. We don’t exactly see the connection here but this appears to be a rather cool campaign either way anyway, and we get an awesome as heck promotional trailer to go with it.
