Akuma, the wielder of the Satsui no Hado, will be coming to Street Fighter 6 as a DLC character in Spring 2024.
In the recent Capcom Highlights Stream, the developers shared a trailer of the raging demon himself, practicing in a secluded cave.
The trailer describes Akuma as such:
“Hundreds of opponents. All felled by his hand.”
“Thousands of strikes exchanged. They forged his spirit.”
“Every moment engraved into his very being.”
“Fists with ambitions so great, they seel to soar beyond the very heavens.”
Although no gameplay footage was included in the teaser, it shows the updated design of Akuma, with his hair turning completely white, while still keeping his lion-mane hairstyle design from Street Fighter V.
Below are some screenshots from the trailer, showing the demon’s might.
As shown in the trailer, the character has gotten stronger between the events of Street Fighter V and Street Fighter 6, especially seen with how he is built like an actual tank now in the trailer.
Judging from past games, however, the way Akuma is usually balanced for the game is by allowing him to do high amounts of damage with crazy pressure, but also having the lowest health in the game.
While it would be weird to see someone as buff as Akuma have the lowest health in Street Fighter 6, some balancing factor would have to come into play if the developers wish to keep his original high-damage aggressive playstyle, so it will be interesting to see how Akuma plays when he eventually gets released.
As mentioned previously, Akuma will be coming to Street Fighter 6 as a DLC character in Spring 2024. Players who already bought the Deluxe Edition, Ultimate Edition, or Year 1 Character Pass will automatically unlock him when he gets released.
