Since its late April launch, the action game with an alluring swordswoman as the protagonist – Stellar Blade has sold over a million units.
Korean developer SHIFT UP held an IPO press conference to announce the over one million sales milestone along with several plans for Stellar Blade.
Once codenamed Project Eve, Stellar Blade launched exclusively for the PlayStation 5 with Sony Interactive Entertainment publishing it.
The figure is quite impressive, considering that it’s only available on a single platform, not to mention that it’s a brand-new IP.
While the results are already astonishing, SHIFT UP believes significant sales are still possible and has plans to continue updating the game.
The previously announced long-awaited Photo Mode will be coming via an update this August while more sexy outfits for protagonist EVE are planned to arrive after October.
There is also a collaboration coming in late 2024, which is likely hinting at the crossover between Stellar Blade and the company’s owned mobile gacha hit Goddess of Victory: Nikke as confirmed to be planned in our interview with Hyung-Tae Kim, game director and CEO of SHIFT UP.
Furthermore, CEO Kim further confirmed that DLCs for Stellar Blade and a PC version, which was previously being considered alongside plans for a sequel, are currently in development.
Since its release, the game gained generally positive reviews from critics and players alike, and quickly became the highest-rated game on PlayStation 5 by user score.
