Shift Up, the developer behind action game Stellar Blade, has expressed confidence that the upcoming PC version will outperform its PS5 counterpart in sales. The statement came during a recent Q&A session following the company’s fiscal year 2024 earnings report.

“In the AAA game market, PC devices have a higher market share than consoles, so we expect the performance of the PC version to exceed that of the console version,” Shift Up stated. The company specifically highlighted the evolving Asian gaming landscape, noting they are “particularly observing trends such as the significant expansion of the single-player action game market in the Asian gaming industry.”
The developer’s preparation has been methodical, with Shift Up confirming they have “identified and analyzed both successful and underperforming cases of console exclusives released on PC,” and are “preparing to release the game in a way that ensures continued success in the PC market.”
To ensure the PC version’s success, Shift Up is implementing several measures, including “optimisation, enhancing user convenience, adding supplementary content, and tailored marketing strategies unique to Shift Up.” The developer is also preparing platform-specific marketing strategies and ensuring compatibility of Stellar Blade with portable PC gaming devices like the Steam Deck and Asus ROG Ally.

The PS5 version of Stellar Blade has already achieved significant success, surpassing one million copies sold worldwide. Shift Up’s continuous update strategy, which they describe as having “been continuously updated like a live service game,” has helped them “steadily build a strong global fandom for the Stellar Blade IP.”
