Announced on their X/Twitter, the developers have confirmed that the same uncensored version of Stellar Blade will be offered in all countries, including the Japanese version.
It is not uncommon for a game to have different versions when released in different regions, considering that different countries may have different censorship laws as well as criteria when rating a game. Furthermore, the contents of Stellar Blade are definitely not as ‘family-friendly’ as normal titles, so it is normal to expect changes and censorship to be implemented for certain region releases.
According to the post, however, no version of the game will be censored, so players can breathe a sigh of relief that the developer’s vision remains intact.
It’s worth noting that aside from being rated 18+ in South Korea, the ESRB ratings have also given the Mature 17+ rating to Stellar Blade with it mentioning ‘Blood and Gore, Language, Suggestive Themes and Violence’, so the game being uncensored would be what you would expect.
Stellar Blade is slated to be released exclusively on the PlayStation 5 on April 26th, 2024. Players who are interested in trying the game can also play the demo now.
